Why I built Kinektic
Hello! I'm Relja Trajkovic, a long-time 2D and 3D animator. I made this app to help out motion graphics animators who are frustrated with the shortcomings of existing tools like After Effects and Blender. For over a decade, I led a team of animators and developers on a product called Viddyoze, where we created over 4,000 motion graphics templates using Blender and, in later years, After Effects. I've even spoken at the Blender Conference about our workflow and helped implement some changes to official Blender releases regarding text handling.
Kinektic is the culmination of everything I've used over the years, blending the best parts of Blender, After Effects, Rive, and others. Minus the workflow frustrations.
What drove me crazy was having to constantly rebuild the same common effects. If I want a procedural paper-tearing effect, why do I have to hunt down a stock photo of torn paper edge, composite it, and stack a dozen random effects and masks that have no intuitive connection to “torn paper”? Why isn't there a single, native procedural generator with all the options in one place?
Now, with AI, independent animators can build the exact tools we need—and more importantly, tools where we can append new procedural effects in a matter of minutes.
That is the idea behind Kinektic. I set out to build a highly modular app for my own workflow, and now I want to build it in public. I want to collect feedback from fellow animators and make it free for everyone so we can keep expanding it together.
Please download the app, play with it, and send me your feedback right here on the site. Nothing would make me happier than turning this into a truly community-built app: by animators, for animators.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Relja
